Putting Community First
CHRISTINE GLENN
For East Gwillimbury Council
Why I'm Running
I am running for East Gwillimbury Council because I care deeply about the future of our community— and I believe positive, collaborative leadership can make a real difference.
Tim and I chose to raise our sons, Luke and Noah, here because we saw something special in this community. Ward 3 is where neighbours know one another, where families put down roots, and where people step up to support each other when it matters most. This isn’t just where we live — it’s home.
Over the years, through my professional career and community involvement, I’ve had the privilege of working with residents, seniors, families, local organizations, and small businesses. I’ve seen the opportunities ahead of us — and I’ve also seen the challenges. Growth, affordability, food insecurity, environmental responsibility, and ensuring programs for youth and seniors are all issues that require thoughtful, balanced leadership.
I am running because I believe we can do better when we work together.
With 20 years of financial leadership experience and years of community service, I understand how to manage budgets responsibly, make informed decisions, and bring people together around practical solutions. I have built my career on positive leadership — listening first, collaborating openly, and focusing on results.
I want to ensure:
-
Seniors can age comfortably in the community they helped build
-
Families — both rural and suburban — feel supported
-
New residents feel welcomed and connected
-
Parents have access to affordable programs for their children and teens
-
Those facing food insecurity are not left behind
-
Our environment is protected as we grow
-
Our neighbourhoods remain safe and strong
East Gwillimbury is growing and evolving. That growth must be guided with care, respect, and long-term thinking. We need leadership that brings people together — not divides them. Leadership that is proactive, fiscally responsible, and community-focused.
I am ready to bring positive energy, strong financial expertise, and a collaborative approach to Council. Together, we can protect what makes Ward 3 special while building a future that works for everyone.
I’m running because I believe in this community — and I’m ready to serve it.
Key Priorities for East Gwillimbury
Affordability
Affordability is a real concern for families across our community — and I hear it everywhere I go. Rising costs are putting pressure on seniors, families, and individuals alike, and it’s important that we recognize just how challenging things have become. Through my volunteer work, particularly supporting local food pantries, our libraries and community initiatives, I’ve seen firsthand the impact this is having on people in East Gwillimbury. That experience has shaped my commitment to ensuring our municipality makes thoughtful, responsible decisions that keep living here as affordable as possible. We need to support residents at every stage of life while continuing to build a community where everyone can thrive.
Community Safety
Community safety is fundamental to maintaining the quality of life we all value in East Gwillimbury. Residents deserve to feel safe in their homes, on their streets, and in our shared public spaces. As our community continues to grow, we must take a proactive and balanced approach to safety — one that includes strong partnerships with local law enforcement, thoughtful planning, and community-based solutions. Safe neighbourhoods are built not just through services, but through connection, awareness, and looking out for one another. I am committed to supporting initiatives that keep Ward 3 safe, responsive, and resilient for every resident.
Collaborative Leadership
Strong communities are built through collaboration. When neighbours look out for one another, and community groups come together to share ideas and resources, real progress happens. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when people work toward a common goal — and that same approach is needed at the council table. By fostering open communication, mutual respect, and a willingness to work together, we can move beyond talk and deliver real, meaningful results. Collaboration isn’t just a value — it’s the key to building a stronger, more connected Ward 3 for everyone.
Economic Vitality
A strong and vibrant local economy is essential to the success of our community. As East Gwillimbury continues to grow, we need to support local businesses, attract thoughtful investment, and create opportunities that benefit residents at every stage of life. By working collaboratively with business owners, entrepreneurs, and community partners, we can foster an environment where businesses can thrive and good jobs can grow. Economic vitality isn’t just about growth — it’s about building a sustainable, balanced community where people can live, work, and succeed close to home.
